Well I must admit I never really liked being referred to as " brother" and I am even less pleased with currently being referred to as " an apostate". So much for the " brotherly" love.

I now hate being called 'sister'
by purrpurr insince waking up i find i am bridling at being called 'sister'.
but it feels like an identity that is being forced on me.. i feel like shouting "i have a name you know!".
it is just me or does anyone else recognise this?.

Back on topic, times and the English usage change and I totally agree the " n " word is offensive now, but at the time Tom and Huck were written it was not used as a racial slur. However why I write, is I have just finished flicking on my remote trying to find an action and adventure show to watch, it's so depressing " F" this and " F" that. Every character a low life and aggressive. I could go on about what the real " talents" needed of an actress in these shows are,but let's end with the observation that most of these modern action and adventure shows would never have been able to get on air in my day, and I can't help but wishing that were the case today.

quite a while back, a brother turned up at my last congregation, he came to a few meetings and then i didn't see him for several weeks, and all of a sudden comes the announcement, he got df'd.

I seriously believe many in the organisation could no more individually shun a person than they would physically hurt another. Of course when in a group, and the group mentality takes over, it always amazes me how many compromise their own independent moral and ethical principals. But I have noted similar behaviour since I was a child at school, and it continues in the work place today.
Even when I was in good standing, I noted the congregation had its pack of wolves waiting to pounce, I used to pity them, now I am just glad I no longer have regular contact with them.

Before we move on to " high culture" let's stick with T.V and " The Tom and Jerry Show" This cartoon series has been banned because its racist and too violent-what next Bugs Bunny?
Here is a great website " Banned Books Awareness and Reading for Knowledge Website" please check it out,this list of books is incredible " Tom Saywer" " Huck Finn" and I must mention " Gone with the wind" as we also have talk of banning the movie.
Personally I don't think any book should be Banned,Its ridiculous, so thankfully we have the ALA office for intellectual freedom which records hundreds of attempts by individuals and groups to have books removed from our libraries and class rooms.
Was what i have written offensive to you, or do I have a point this banning of our past, our entertainment and our classic literature is ridiculous?

Well shortly after the " moon landing" American Airlines announced they were planning on future commercial trips to the moon. I believe more recently Richard Branson had similar ideas.

by The Rebel inhi i am delighted to be apart of the community.. having left the witnesses one of my first challenges was my believe in god.
naturally.. i have concluded that i am alive and conscious.
now my intuition tells me god exists, but my analytical thinking tells me god does not exist.

Well maybe my days are numbered, I realise by questioning Gods organisation I will cease to exist. This is the punishment for an indoctrinated witness who questions their faith ( I mean organisation) But that's what I did, I committed the unforgivable sin, I questioned Jehovers " spirit directed organisation"
I discover they believe the bible is the exact word of God, and then change it....and I have so many unresolvable problems with this organisation, that I am sure I made the correct decision to leave....as for God I think that's an unresolvable problem, I call him/ her a mystery, and the truth is I really no longer give a shit anymore.....life is to be lived and enjoyed today.

Well this thread Barrold Bonds got this long, because we have a poster who claims she can prove man landed on the moon. As I hope her evidence is a little stronger than your comment " Man landed on the moon end of story. If you don't believe that you are a fucking idiot........" I have been pushing Viv for this evidence.
